If you haven’t heard, we’ve been nominated for PR Blog of the Year in the PR Readers’ Choice Awards! What this means is that YOU nominated us and we’ll forever be grateful. Not only is it a big deal because we were nominated by our community, but because I, personally, devour the content from our competition daily.

But before I ask you to vote, I’d like to tell you a little about our competition, as well as the blogs we voted for in the other categories.

First, Arik Hanson, who holds the contest, has become a fast friend in the past six or seven months. I was first introduced to him when he blogged about the most intriguing men and women in social media. I knew I would immediately like him because we have the same taste in people who are smart, savvy, and funny. So check out his blog, subscribe, and read what he has to say!

Now on to the other categories:

* Up-and-coming: I voted for PR Nonsense here because I am friends with Meredith Eaton on Twitter, but also because they have a group blog that works really well (we tried group blogging here and it didn’t work out so well, so I respect those who make it work).

* Most educational: I voted for Convince & Convert because Jay Baer is one of a handful of digital experts who not only knows what the heck he’s talking about, but hasn’t let online media take over his head. He is the most down-to-earth person I have ever met and he blogs about things no one else even considers (i.e. he provided a list of 17 “products” PR professionals can sell to their clients and some of them are very results-driven).

* Most thought-provoking: I voted for Justin Kownacki because, while I read Conversation Agent daily and think Valerie is uber-smart, Justin blogs about topics that are above and beyond the norm. His thinking, and his writing, are far superior to most blogs. So much so that I would rank him in the top one percent of bloggers.

And for our competition

* Danny Brown: It’s pretty obvious why I like Danny, having just recommended him on Friday for our #FollowFriday. Read the MANY reasons here.

* {grow}: Another one of our competitors who I’ve recommended, Mark Schaefer is a must read for everyone. Subscribe to his blog and devour his content. He was a #FollowFriday a couple of weeks ago and you can find that post here.

* PR Squared: I’d have to credit Todd Defren for bringing digital communication into my brain. I have a really great colleague who worked here for a couple of years; he worships Todd and everything he does we’d hear about in the staff meetings. So Todd, thanks for the social media release, your thoughts on blogging, and just being you!

* Social Media Explorer: If you don’t know Jason Falls, he is a must read for everyone in PR, social media, and marketing. He’s always a top-rated blogger, a high-level strategist, and all-around nice guy.

So now it’s your turn. Obviously we’d love you to vote for us in PR Blog of the Year, but if you don’t, I hope I’ve given you reason to vote for one of our competitors. And please vote in the other categories, as well! Voting closes tomorrow.
